Comcast announced this week that it will open a Spanish-language Center of Excellence in Miramar, Florida this spring. Once fully operational later in the year, this new center will employ more than 300 customer account executives exclusively dedicated to handling sales calls from Spanish-speaking consumers across the country.“We’ve been extremely focused on bringing an enhanced entertainment experience to the growing Hispanic community, but just as important is delivering top-notch service,” said Filemon Lopez, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Florida East Coast Region. “By creating a dedicated Spanish-language Center of Excellence, we can leverage our investments in sophisticated tools and advanced technology, and deliver specific employee training on our unique Hispanic product offerings to deliver a consistently high quality experience to Spanish-speaking consumers.”
Comcast’s move to open the Spanish-language Center of Excellence and create 300 new jobs was applauded by leaders in the state of Florida and the Hispanic community.

According to the 2010 U.S. Census results, the Hispanic population in the United States has surpassed 50 million. Comcast has worked hard to meet the needs and interests of this growing consumer base, including making enhancements to its product suite to make it more compelling. The company has dramatically increased the amount of Spanish-language programming on TV, On Demand and online (www.XfinityTV.com/latinotv) with the launch of Xfinity TV in Spanish, offers international calling plans that make it more affordable to call Latin America and other Spanish-speaking areas and has launched a Spanish version of SmartZone Communications Center, an online destination where customers can access and control their email, voice mail, address book and calendar as well as program their DVR.

To fill these roles, the company is looking for individuals who are bilingual in Spanish and English, and who have at least one to two years of sales experience and a commitment to deliver superior customer service.
