COMCAST ANNOUNCES NEW SPANISH-LANGUAGE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

Dedicated Center Will Employ 300 Customer Account Executives in Miramar, Florida

You know, over the last several years, Comcast has been very focused on enhancing their products to deliver the most compelling entertainment experience to the Hispanic community:
- Launching a 50+ channel Spanish-language programming tier that includes access to nearly 700 Hispanic On Demand choices that customers can watch at their convenience

- Launching a Spanish version of SmartZone Communications Center, their online destination where customers can access and control their email, voice mail, Universal Address Book, calendar and program their DVR!
Then this week, came this welcome piece of news, especially important in this South Florida Economy: Comcast announced this week that it will open a Spanish-language Center of Excellence in Miramar, Florida this spring. Once fully operational later in the year, this new center will employ more than 300 customer account executives exclusively dedicated to handling sales calls from Spanish-speaking consumers across the country.

“We’ve been extremely focused on bringing an enhanced entertainment experience to the growing Hispanic community, but just as important is delivering top-notch service,” said Filemon Lopez, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Florida East Coast Region. “By creating a dedicated Spanish-language Center of Excellence, we can leverage our investments in sophisticated tools and advanced technology, and deliver specific employee training on our unique Hispanic product offerings to deliver a consistently high quality experience to Spanish-speaking consumers.”

Comcast’s move to open the Spanish-language Center of Excellence and create 300 new jobs was applauded by leaders in the state of Florida and the Hispanic community.

“As Governor, I am working to make Florida the No. 1 place for job creation so that successful companies like Comcast will grow and expand in our state,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. “The diversity of our people and our commitment to giving Florida’s business environment a competitive edge over other states will increase economic opportunities for all Floridians. I applaud Comcast for their investment in Florida’s Spanish-language communities by creating this new call center in Miramar.”

“Throughout the years, Comcast has demonstrated a strong commitment to the Hispanic community, and once again it is taking its commitment to the next level by opening a 300-person Center of Excellence specifically designed to serve Spanish-speaking consumers,” said Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “Comcast stands out in the business community for its understanding of the Hispanic population and should be applauded for this investment.”

According to the 2010 U.S. Census results, the Hispanic population in the United States has surpassed 50 million. Comcast has worked hard to meet the needs and interests of this growing consumer base, including making enhancements to its product suite to make it more compelling. The company has dramatically increased the amount of Spanish-language programming on TV, On Demand and online (www.XfinityTV.com/latinotv) with the launch of Xfinity TV in Spanish, offers international calling plans that make it more affordable to call Latin America and other Spanish-speaking areas and has launched a Spanish version of SmartZone Communications Center, an online destination where customers can access and control their email, voice mail, address book and calendar as well as program their DVR.

The Spanish-language Center of Excellence will officially start to handle customer calls in May and Comcast is currently accepting applications for the more than 300 new customer account executive jobs atwww.comcast.com/careers. To fill these roles, the company is looking for individuals who are bilingual in Spanish and English, and who have at least one to two years of sales experience and a commitment to deliver superior customer service. Comcast offers its employees competitive pay as well as extensive career path options, medical, dental and prescription benefits and discounted Comcast services.
